After indulging myself in what pop culture deemed as the highest pleasures (money, power, sex, drugs, party-life, etc.), and watching my life crumble under the grip of these pleasures (betrayed by close friends, hurt by my closest lover, accumulating a criminal record, living in fear, loosing all motivation, stricken with depression/loneliness/confusion), God rolled up his sleeves to reach down from heaven and scoop me up from the pit, made his love and power clear to me, gave me new life in Christ, and set me on a new path. I only wish my life were a better tribute to this great redeemer. Living out my dream to be a missionary in the inner city of the US, I am currently a social minister in Louisville, KY. I direct an outreach program for at-risk inner city youth and hope to graduated in May 09 with a Masters of Divinity from a local seminary here in Louisville.

Wow! you sound like me. Although I have a bit more milage than you we still share the same rescue fom certain misery and a wasted life.
I pastored small rural SBC churches for many years and became weary of people who would not, could not practice the transformed life of a follower of Jesus Christ.
Currently I am an Admistrator of a Long-Term Homeless Men’s Ministry in Kansas City.
I am assuming correctly that you are a student at Southern? I attended Midwestern here in Kansas City. Perhaps you have had Don Whitney class? I studied in his Worship/Spiritual Discipline class – - fascinating

Do you know Brent Parker? He’s a good friend of mine who recently got his MDiv from Southern and is now working in a PhD.
